At age 14, Chef Rick was a dishwasher. At age 20, he became a head chef while studying chemistry in college…In the kitchen, he was home. Once his focus changed it was only three short years before he was an Executive Chef. From Connecticut to Block Island, Rhode Island to New Jersey to North Carolina Rick has a diverse culinary background that can’t be taught in school. His cooking experience is his life. He has a broad culinary repertoire filled with Italian American favorites from his childhood and inspiration from all the great kitchens he has run. Mia Famiglia pays homage to his family and his beginnings by specializing in Italian American classics. Rick’s unique culinary twist makes Mia Famiglia’s fare his own.
Mark, on the other hand, has always been on the other side of the line working in the front of the house. Eating and drinking aside, he first shifted his focus to restaurants when he was asked by Rick to help open one in Northern New Jersey while studying engineering at Rutgers. Mark’s extensive wine knowledge and discerning taste was the perfect complement to Chef Rick’s incredible cuisine.
In only a matter of a few years they introduced their 10,000 square foot flagship restaurant. More than just a restaurant they are also a full-service catering company specializing in weddings and banquets; able to accommodate any event, large or small. Rick’s diverse skill encompasses more than just Italian, offering the finest dishes from around the world. Mia Famiglia can indulge over 300 guests with private dining rooms available. The elegant ambience, 1200 bottle wine room & live music in the piano bar is unbeatable. Unbeatable, that is, except by the food. Because, after all, that’s what it’s all about.
